Induction generators are used for stand alone systems, synchrounous generators could be used as well.

I’m not really sure what you mean by ‘different types’ of wind turbines, but I’ll give it my best shot. The only ones I personally know about (other than the huge ‘wind farm’ types) are the home make kind. To make these you need 4 main things.
Blades and Stand
Batteries
Power control circuit
Treadmill motor
These can be very effective. The motors can usually max out with an output of 2000W (when geared correctly, and with a strong wind), but would put out about 100-200W on an average day. A couple of motors I have are rated at 25A @ 110VDC @ 3500RPM. Hope this helps.
